Enhanced Catholic Initiatives
This umbrella spans several existing programs and opens room for new ones. With new funding provided by the campaign, here’s how we plan to enhance the Foundation’s Catholic initiatives:
- The Distinguished Speakers Series, running since 1984, will be expanded. This diverse lecture series brings exceptional theologians / philosophers to Lexington to span a full range of Catholic thought. We intend to attract speakers who will complement, challenge and enhance the efforts of Dr. David Hunter.
- Student Leadership Programs will prepare college students for leadership roles in their future parishes.
- Campus Ministry will expand current resources and programming to meet the needs of 6,000 Catholics on the UK campus.
- Grants will expand the financial resources available for supporting Catholic initiatives. Past Foundation grant recipients have included Campus Ministry spring-break trips programs, student training and leadership workshops, campus music ministry, student CCD programs, Theology on Tap, Health Ministries Programs, and several local organization.
- The Foundation will offer Scholarship opportunities to people in the Diocese of Lexington who serve in ministry roles (including deacons, clergy and laity) to participate in classes offered by the Chair in Catholic Studies at UK.
