1910's1914 – UK Catholic Club formed with a part-time chaplain, Fr. William Punch 26 Catholics at UK 1st Newman Club formed in Pennsylvania
1920's1923 – Catholics at UK: 42
1930's
1940's1940 – Covington Diocese associates with National Newman Clubs.
1950's1958 – 1st full-time chaplain, Fr. Herlihy.
1959 – Started meeting in a building at 320 Rose Lane. About 135 people worshipped together each week.
1960's1960 – New structure built. Fr. Elmer Moore was the full-time chaplain. Newman Clubs dissolved in favor of National Newman Apostolate. Catholics at UK: 635
1963 – Holy Spirit Parish was erected as a personal parish, not a territorial parish.
1965 – Catholics at UK: 1900
1966 – 1st full-time associate chaplain, Fr. Ronald Ketteler
1969 – Newman Center Foundation, Inc., established.
1st major fundraising campaign begun.
1970's1970 – Catholics at UK: 3500
1972 – Newman Center building erected and dedicated.
1975 – Catholics at UK: 4000
1976 – Catholics make-up 20% of the student body at UK
1978 – Fr. Lawrence Hehman Pastor; had been the Associate Pastor since 1969.
1980's1980 – Catholics at UK: 5000
Newman Center, Inc., Grants program begun
1984 - Distinguished Speakers series begins.
1985 – Fr. Dan Noll becomes Pastor; had been Associate Pastor since 1982.
1990's1990 – Successful fundraising campaign held for church addition, kitchen, and renovation.
1991 – Newman Center, Inc., Fellows donor program begins.
Campus Minister joins Newman Center staff.
1992 – Newman Center, Inc. Founders donor program begins.
1994 – Newman Center, Inc. name changed to Newman Foundation, Inc 1997 – Fr. Tom Ferrell becomes Pastor.
2000's2005 – Cottrill-Rolfes Endowed Chair in Catholic Studies established.
